The Christmas card, aptly named "A Little Something for You", stands out for its unique properties. The first greeting is an abstract design, followed by a puzzle that can be rearranged to form a side view of Santa Claus. The third greeting is a Christmas word greeting that can be assembled by flipping the card over. This multi-faceted approach to a traditional Christmas card offers the receiver a fun and interactive experience.
The realization of this design started with the idea of a simple puzzle. The concept evolved into using different shapes to create multiple interpretations of Christmas. The material chosen was durable paper that works well with block colors and gold foil, keeping the design simple yet elegant. The card measures approximately 14cm D x 24cm W, making it a perfect size for a Christmas greeting.
The design process involved extensive research into different Santa Claus pictures and minimalistic designs. The challenge was to create a simple yet recognizable version of Santa Claus using simple shapes and color placements. The abstract design was created to break apart the Santa Claus look, adding an element of surprise to the card.
The major challenge faced during the design process was getting the diecut in the print house due to the hard angles of the shape. Despite the time constraints, the team managed to overcome this hurdle, delivering the card just in time for Christmas in 2015.
"A Little Something for You" was awarded Silver in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2018. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. This recognition further solidifies BLCH Ltd.'s commitment to creating unique and engaging designs.
In conclusion, "A Little Something for You" is more than just a Christmas card. It's an interactive experience that offers a fresh take on traditional holiday greetings. Its innovative design and playful nature make it a memorable piece of art that goes beyond its function, truly embodying the spirit of Christmas.
